Commentary
View of the centre service door in the screens passage at the low end of the hall. The 3 service doors originally led to the buttery on the N side and the kitchen.

The door leading into the hall from the screens passage is a later replacement. Another door in the SE corner at the high end led to family chambers.

Commentary
The lath and timber minstrels' gallery above the screens passage at the low end was discovered during early 20th c. restoration. There are 3 small 2-light windows in the minstrel's gallery.

Commentary
The high end of the great hall with the bay window to the right and a door in the SE corner leading to a parlour with private chamber above. The upper room was originally reached via a stone staircase, now replaced by an oak staircase salvaged from pieces originating in a 17th c. Scottish castle.

Commentary
E wall of the great hall facing the courtyard, showing some of the fine linenfold panelling. The window with decorative plaster motifs in Gothic style likely dates from the 19th c. remodelling.

Commentary
The Jacobean overmantel with a carved panel of Adam and Eve flanked by caryatids may have been relocated from elsewhere in the house during later remodelling.
