Searching for strings of text using quotation marks:

Using quotation marks in your search will help to refine the ammount of results. If you want to search for a string of text (for example, Appleby Castle), you will need to put your search terms in quotation marks in order to find an exact match. If you search Appleby Castle without quotations marks you will get 89 results because the system will search for any instances where Appleby OR Castle appear in the records.  If you search with quotation marks, you will get fewer results because you are searching for instances where Appleby AND Castle appear in the records.
