Commentary
One of several original mason's marks dating from the late 16th c. Similar marks can be found at Stonyhurst House in Lancashire.

The entrance porch in the semi-circular bay is original, leading into the centre of the hall.

Commentary
There are 3 large windows (seen here from the outside), originally of 4 lights, in the W wall. The windows have been renovated and the level of their sills adjusted several times.

The large window high in the S wall at the high end of the hall seems to be in its original position though its medieval features have been lost.
