Imprisoned in the Tower for marriage to Katherine Grey 5 Sept. 1561; committed into the custody of mother at Hanworth, Middlesex 21 Aug. 1563 and into the custody of Sir John Mason 26 May 1564; released after 27 Jan. 1567/8 but confined in various country houses until 1571. Imprisoned in the Tower for attempt to legitimate his son by Katherine ca. Nov. 1595--3 Jan. 1595/6. On embassy to Brussels April--May 1605
