Commentary
The interior of the great hall from the dais before its demolition. The high-pitched roof shown and the panelling are probably not original. The watercolour is now in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Rouse, Beauties and Antiquities folio 28, plate 119

Commentary
Interior of the Ancient Hall, Halnaker Castle.

View of the panelled W end of the hall with 2 circular panels carved with the arms of the De La Warr and Camoys families. The 2 doors were originally flanked by 'full length statuettes of warriors, whilst the cornice had similar crouching figures' (Andre, 'Halnaker' 203).
