Notes

Imprisoned in the Tower for part in Essex's revolt Feb. 1600/1--June 1601; afterwards restricted to a 4 mile radius around the house of cousin Sir John Leventhorpe at Shinglehall, Epping, Essex. This restriction apparently did not last beyond the beginning of James I's reign
