Left England for France at age 12 (1526) to serve as a page; returned to England 1531 or 1532. Attainted 7 April 1554 for treason and fled the realm 23 Jan. 1555; pardon issued 9 Dec. 1555; arrested near Brussels ca. 16 May 1556 and lodged in the Tower; released Oct. 1556; attainder reversed 1563; in Ireland 1568--70 and Aug. 1573 to death
