Commentary
The 1805 plan (unrealized) for restoring the hall includes the following note on this longitudinal section: '...Opening above the door towards the N end discovered on breaking away the stucco and taking out modern wall which had filled it up = an opening for a view into the hall from an apartment in that quarter. The windows have been very much altered, being shorter and broader than the original ones, which descended much lower.'
