    The manor of Hanworth, Middlesex was obtained from the Crown by Anne, Duchess of Somerset, in advance of her marriage to Newdigate, and became the couple's primary residence.

    Newdigate purchased the manor and demesnes in the period between the making of his will and his death. The manor is one of multiple properties whose bequeathing to the Seymour family John Newdigate, Francis's nephew, challenged after Francis's death.
