'At Colcombe a fair large house with divers lodgings in the same, well kept and repaired, set standing and being within the park, which park standeth, the custody and park had one Walter Langley, now departed, his fee yearly by patent by the grant of the late Lord Marquis, attainted, 60/8, with the pasture of 4 kine or bullocks and of 1 horsed or gelding with the pannage, windfall, woods and underwoods' (PRO: Rentals and Surveys, [Miscellaneous Books, Augmentation Office] E315/384).
