The timber-framed ground floor hall has 6 bays open to the roof with a rib-vaulted stone bay window added in the late 16th c. to light the dais at the high end. 3 original service doors remain at the low end though the screen passage was removed in the late 18th c. (Some mortices can still be seen in the posts to the left of the SW door). The mid-Victorian floor has been raised above its original level.
The buttery is located to the right, the pantry to the left, and the passage leading to the impressive medieval kitchen in the centre.
A 2-storey annex at the SE corner in the high end was added to enclose a spiral staircase in the 18th c.
