The hall is entered by a porch at the NW end. There is a similar doorway opposite in the E wall and another arched doorway at the SE end. The walls of the hall are an impressive 40' high, with later oak wainscotting at the lower level. Many of the original features have been altered over the centuries but the basic dimensions and some of the fabric is original.

The 19th c. roof based on the medieval design was destroyed by fire and replaced by a similar 4-bay hammerbeam oak roof. The original hall apparently had screens and a gallery but these were destroyed at an unknown time. The present gallery is 20th c.
