Great hall

Lyme Park

Description / History (pre-1642)

The original features and dimensions of the Elizabethan great hall on the upper floor in the E range were concealed by Leoni's renovation of the space as a formal, neoclassical entrance hall in the early 18th c. The level of the hall was lowered by Leoni so it is now below the great chamber although higher than the original ground floor level.

At the upper (N) end of the hall is the entrance up a flight of stairs to the original great chamber, now the drawing room.
