The 15th c. hall has 5 bays and a screen entrance at the low end. It was redecorated in the 18th c. in neoclassical style and again in the 19th c. by Morris and Bodley.

Entrance was through a surviving doorway in the 5th bay protected by a porch and leading into the screens passage.

In 1531 8' high linenfold panelling was added (later relocated), surmounted by 'a frieze containing arms of benefactors in relief, alternating with grotesque heads richly carved...' (Willis and Clark, Architectural History 2.44). The present panelling dates from the early 18th c. renovations directed by Essex. The screen dates from the same period.
