The site of the medieval great hall is unclear.
According to the Tiverton Castle Report of the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (NBR no 88993), there appears to have been a 2-storey building to the W of the chapel in the S wing, beyond which lay the square solar block in the SW corner. A stump of the E wall of this building and a small part of the stair turret at its W end are all that remain. This may have been the site of the great hall.
