Description / History (pre-1642)

The great hall is located on the upper floor of the late 13th c. block on the N side of the inner bailey. Entrance was up a flight of stone stairs through a wide pointed doorway in the SW corner.

The screens passage was at the W end with entrance to the solar. The dais lay at the E end.

2 pointed arches connect at W end to a 3-storey tower with residential rooms.
