A Victorian extension in 1857 to the N added an additional 20' to its dimensions, increasing the total length to 90'.

Description / History (pre-1642)

The entrance to the great hall on the upper floor of the E wing was at the top of an outside staircase (demolished mid-19th c.) in the courtyard. The Jacobean panelling may not have been installed in the early 17th c.

The height of the hall is 19' 6' according to <i>VCH Lanc</i> 7.11.
