Notes

Ward of Elizabeth I 1594--1598, when his mother brought his wardship. Travelled to Italy 1609--1611. Imprisoned in the Fleet for refusing to take the oath of allegiance 1 March 1611/12 and sentenced to perpetual imprisonment and forfeiture of lands; pardoned and transferred into the custody of the Dean of Westminster Oct. 1612; lands restored and released on surety 1 March 1614/15. Served in Flanders 1622-1624. Imprisoned 13--25 Nov. 1625
