Located in the S fenlands of Lincolnshire, the medieval limestone church of Market Deeping stands near King Street, the Roman road connecting Lincoln with the S.
Evidence survives for use of the church as a performance venue by touring players in the 1570s.

12th c. Founding of the church.
15th c. Clerestory added in perpendicular style.
1440 W tower built.
1565 Rood loft and screen taken down.
ca. 1643 Wood panelling at E end destroyed.
1840s Extensive repairs; box pews and galleries removed.
1877--8 Extensive restoration by James Fowler, including lowering of nave floor to its original level, remodelling of chancel, N aisle widened, plaster removed from interior stonework, S aisle roof replaced. New oak pews introduced.
1989 Lady Chapel renovated.
1997 New screen erected at the NW end of the church.
