Overview

Little is known about the late medieval manor house of the Monynges family, located a few miles NW of Dover. Replaced by a large brick residence in the early 18th c.

Performance History

Possible performance venue. A trumpeter patronized by John Monynges appeared in Canterbury in 1553--4.

Demolished.

History of the Venue

11th c. Manor held by the family of Malmaines.

early 15th c. Manor acquired by John Monynges who built a new residence about a mile SE of the original manor house.

1705 Sold to Sir Henry Furnese.

1705--12 Old house demolished and new residence built with an elegant park surrounding.
