Little has been discovered about the Mainwaring family's medieval hall, located on a moated site 4 miles SE of Whitchurch.
The present red brick farmhouse on or near the site dates from the late 17th c.
A probable performance venue. No relevant household records survive but an entertainer or entertainers under Sir Richard Mainwaring's patronage performed at nearby Shrewsbury in the early 16th c.
Demolished.
15th c. William Mainwaring of Peover, Cheshire, acquired Ightfield via marriage with Margaret Warren.
late 17th c. House rebuilt on a T-plan.
1690 Charles Mainwaring died, leaving his estate heavily encumbered.
