Overview

Sir John Hussey's manor house was located on the edge of Old Sleaford, E of the new town. In the 1530s Leland noted its recent construction: 'The house or manor place, lately almost new buildid of stone and timbre by the Lorde Husey, standith southeward withoute the toun' (Itinerary 1.27).

Little has been discovered about the Tudor residence which was on or near the site of Old Place, an early 17th c. farmhouse largely rebuilt in 1822.

Performance History

Baron Hussey hosted various entertainers at Hussey Manor in the 1530s, including the players of the Earl of Northumberland.

Demolished.

15th c. Hussey family probably acquired a manor in Old Sleaford.

by 1538 Manor purchased by Robert Carre after Sir John Hussey's attainder. House subsequently deteriorated.

early 17th c. Farmhouse built on the site from the ruins of the original house.

1822 Farmhouse mostly demolished and a new house erected.
