Burton Manor
Description / History (pre-1642)
The great hall was incorporated into the Abbey Inn. As of 2003, the U-shaped building contained a 14th c N wing with a large window at the E end with reticulated tracery that might have lighted an upper-floor chapel (VCH: Staffs, vol. 9, 48-53). Springers remain from a structure with a vaulted undercroft on the N side of the wing. Still present in the hall range is an arch-braced double purlin roof from c.1445-70.
