This late 15th/early 16th c. stall-end on the S side of the choir in Manchester Collegiate Church was added during the wardenship of James Stanley, the 10th Earl of Derby's brother. It is adjacent to the warden's stall that has a related carving of a gatehouse flanked by a pair of towers. The lofty doorway of the 3-storey gabled gatehouse differs from that on the bishop's stall and may be the postern gate. 4 masons are shown approaching the 8 stairs leading to the entrance of what is likely an early view of Earl Thomas' splendid house at Lathom (Lewis, 'Lathom House' 156--58).
