Current Status

Survives as a public space, although now bisected by a driveway and parking.

History of the Venue

1540 St Peter's Abbey dissolved, and Cathedral established 1541

1649 Dean and Chapter abolished; reinstated 1660

c 1750 churchyard landscaped and planted with trees

1768 wall separating churchyard from 'upper churchyard' (on south side of cathedral) demolished
