Overview

Little is known of the church house associated with the parish church of St Mary, Bridgwater. It was recorded on the N side of High Street in 1537 and was maintained by the town corporation (VCH: Somers 6.233).

Performance History

Mr Fortescue's players performed in the church house in 1564.

History of the Venue

by 1722 The grammar school occupied an upper chamber.

1765 Committee appointed for demolition and rebuilding.

1788 School returned to the new building on the site.
