The Prince's Players were paid at the Chequers Inn in 1544.

Long demolished.

History of the Venue

1544 Recorded as the site of a performance payment, under the ownership of Mr Kennett.

early 18th c. Renamed the George by this time. Subsequently the inn was relocated to Rendezvous Street.
