Prior William More, of the Cathedral Priory of Worcester until 1538, regularly lived at Battenhall. .

Current Status

The manor house does not survive. Battenhall Park is a recreation ground within the city of Worcester. An original moat survives.

History of the Venue

An important park and manor attached to the Priory of Worcester. The site was the Prior of Worcester's principal manor.

The site was granted with the manor at Dissolution.

On early maps the site was identified as a deer park.

In 1927--28 the house was occupied by the composer, Sir Edward Elgar.

The house was demolished ca. 1960, and much of the manor park was divided for housing.
