The original dimensions of the 3-bay ground floor hall have been altered by later renovations. There was likely a large window at the dais end. The original soulaced collar-rafter roof remains. Painted glass was added to the hall windows by the late 15th c., including the rebus of Cardinal Morton. (Pearson, Gazetteer 28.)
Because there is no evidence of a roof having been broken through for a chimney, it is assumed that any fireplaces used for heating would have been against the rear wall, but no trace of these is left. A later Jacobean fireplace was added and remains in the house.
