Located E of the Guildhall on High Street, the Red Lion Inn was a popular venue for civic functions. Little has been discovered about its structure in the Tudor period.
A payment at the Red Lion to the king's minstrels in May 1506 may include a reward for performance there.

1806 Demolished during the construction of Guildhall Street linking Sun and High Streets.
