  • c. January 1-January 28: Several performances of “Baron Munchausen; Or, Harlequin & the Wizard of the Green Isle” at the Theatre Royal, Liverpool. (features several sequences in China/Hong Kong.)
  • January 14: Ducrow’s National Establishment performs ‘Lalla Rookh, or the Fire Worshippers’ at the Royal Amphitheatre, Sheffield.
  • c. January 16-February 11: Circus entertainments at the Lyceum Theatre, London include acts called: ‘The Halt of the Arabs’, ‘The Chinese Tea Picker’ and ‘Aslar and Osines; or, The Lion Brothers of the Burning Forest of the Zaara’.
  • c. January 16-21: Performances of a “Pantomime, called The Children in the Wood Or, Harlequin Nobody!” that contains sections pertaining to India & China at the Theatre Royal, Adelphi (London).
  • c. January 16-21: A figure of the Emperor of China is displayed at Springthorpe’s Waxworks, Bristol
  • January 20: A production of ‘The Horrors of Cabul’ is mounted in Liverpool.
  • February 10: ‘The Merchant of Venice’ is performed at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle.
  • February 16: Entertainments at the Sheffield Theatre include ‘St. Flor the Gypsey’.
  • c. February 20-25: Performances of the melodramatic Burletta ‘Mungo Park! Or, The Arabs of the Niger” at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, London.
  • c. March 6-11: Further performances of ‘Mungo Park’ at the Lyceum Theatre, London.
  • March 8: ‘The Merchant of Venice’ is on the bill at the Theatre Royal, Marylebone (London).
  • March 13-17: Anderson, “Great Wizard of the North” does a trick called “the Gipsey’s Wonder Kitchen”, and makes use of an Arabian-themed set in performances at the Sheffield Music Hall.
  • c. March 27-April 1: Circus entertainments at the Lyceum Theatre, London again include an act entitled ‘The Chinese Tea Picker’.
  • April 10: Mr. Ransford sings ‘The Gipsy Band’ as part of a benefit concert at the Princess’s Theatre, London.
  • c. April 24-29: The circus at Astley’s includes the “splendid spectacle of the Afghan Wars.”
  • c. April 27-May 6: Equestrian scene entitled “The Bedouins of the Desert” part of the entertainments provided by the Circus Royal at Allen’s Yorkshire Stingo (London).
  • May 8: Both ‘Guy Mannering: or, the Gipsy’s Prophecy’ and “a Persian Drama, called Zembuca; Or, the Net Maker and his Wife” are on the bill at the Theatre Royal, Liverpool.
  • c. May 9-11: 2 further performances of ‘Zembuca; Or, the Net Maker and his Wife’ at the Theatre Royal, Liverpool.
  • c. May 24: Charles Kean plays Shylock at the Nottingham Theatre Royal.
  • c. July 24-29: Performances of ‘The Son of the Desert’ at the Edinburgh Theatre.
  • July 31: Powell’s Circus Royal, at Fair Fields, Stepney, features several race-related performances, including: a “Grand Spectacle, entitled Kylmar the Tyrant, or the Princess of Mingrellia and the Circassian Captive,” an equestrian scene called “The Black Forest! (featuring the comic character “Tang Wang the Wise”), and a “Grand Spectacle” called The Canton Jubilee”
  • August: Acts at the annual Camberwell Fair include a “Native Female from New Zealand.”
  • August 7: The “Acrobatic Wonders” perform as part of Powell’s Circus Royal, at Wood’s Meadow, Dover. Troupe said to “equal, if not outvie the Real Bedouin Arabs”
  • August 19: Performance of ‘The Merchant of Venice’ (with Diddear as Shylock) at the Theatre Royal, Brighton.
  • c. September 4-8: 5 performances by a troupe of “Morocco Arabians” at the Theatre Royal, Bristol.
  • c. September 25-30: The Morocco Arabs perform at Astley’s, London.
  • c. October 2-7: A troupe of Morocco Arabians appear in Birmingham (venue unknown).
  • October 3: Performance of a “Grand Chinese Tamborine Pas de Trois” (with Mr. Shalders as “ Rum Jum”, Mr. T. Fry as “Bung Foo” and Mr. Warde as “Ztdm Klpr”) at the Grecian Saloon, Portsmouth
  • December 11-12: Entertainments at the Theatre Royal, Sheffield include ‘Esmeralda’.
