Although the performer is never listed, the Chronicle and Gazette speak of the performer as a "gentleman lately arrived from England" who is "now a resident in this District,
one whose Amateur efforts in the highest walks of the drama have been most eminently successful, both in his own Country and India, has consented to appear for this night only, in the arduous character of Richard 3rd. We have never seen the Gentleman but fro all we can ascertain from those who have witnessed his performances, the public have a rich treat in store" (Chronicle and Gazette 16 August, 1843, 3).
