The<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> temple was built of cornelian red,
\nTo signify that much blood there<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> was shed.
\nThe altars all were carved of<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> agate stone,
\nAnd musk flies there were sacrificed upon.<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nA priest there was, who sang<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> her praises loud, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5
\nWhereat the people kneeled<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> all in a crowd,
\nFor though she\u2019s<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span> blind and cannot clearly<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> see,
\nYet she her hearing hath most perfectly.<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nThe steeple black was built of<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> mourning jet,

\nThe bells were<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span> nightingales\u2019 tongues, which did ring

\nTheir holy fire was<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> made of sweet<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> spice,
\nAnd kept by virgins young that know no vice.
