Who knows, but that in every<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> brain may dwell
\nThose creatures we call<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> fairies\u2014who can tell?
\nAnd by their several actions they may make<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nThose forms and figures we for fancy take.<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAnd when we sleep, those visions dreams we call\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 5
\nMay by their industry<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> be rais\u00e8d all,
\nAnd all the objects which through senses get,
\nWithin the brain they may in order set,
\nAnd some pack up, as merchants do each thing,<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nWhich they<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> sometimes may to the mem\u2019ry<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> bring.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10
\nAnd thus,<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> besides our own imaginations,
\nMay fairies<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> in our brain beget inventions.
\nIf so, then th\u2019eye\u2019s the sea where, by the gale<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nOf passions, on salt tears their ship doth sail,<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAnd when<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> a tear doth break, as it doth fall\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 15
\nOr wiped away, they may a shipwreck call.
\nWhen<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> from the stomach vapors do arise,
\nFly up into<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> the head (as to the skies),
\nAnd, as great storms,<\/span>17<\/sup><\/a><\/span> their houses down may blow,
\nWhich<\/span>18<\/sup><\/a><\/span> by their fall the head may dizzy grow.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 20
\nAnd when those houses they build up again,
\nWith knocking they may<\/span>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span> put the head to pain.
\nWhen they dig deep, perchance a<\/span>20<\/sup><\/a><\/span> tooth may ache,
\nAnd from a tooth a quarry-bone may take,
\nWhich they, like<\/span>21<\/sup><\/a><\/span> stone, may build their house withal;\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 25
\nIf much took out, the tooth may rotten fall.
\nThose that dwell near the ears are very cool,
\nFor they are both the South, and Northern Pole.
\nThe eyes are sun and moon, which give them light:
