The spring doth spin fine grass-green silk, of which
\nWas woven<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> a carpet, like the Persian, rich,
\nAnd all about the borders, there were<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> spread
\nClusters of grapes, mixed green, blue, white, and red,
\nAnd in the midst the gods in sundry shapes\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5
\nWere<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> curious wrought, divulging all their rapes,
\nAnd all the ground was strewed with flowers so;<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAs if by Nature set, they there did grow.<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nThose figures all like sculptures did<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> bear out;

\nThere light and dark all intermixed were<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> laid
\nFor shady groves, where priests<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> devoutly prayed.
\nThe fruits so hung<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> as did invite the taste;
\nSmall birds with picking seemed<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> to make a waste.
\nThe ground was wrought like threads drawn from the sun,\u00a0 \u00a0 15
\nWhich shined so blazing as<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span> a fired gun.
\nThis piece the pattern is of artful skill;
