The head of man just like a hive is made;
\nThe brain is like a comb<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> exactly laid,
\nWhere every thought, just like a bee, doth dwell,
\nEach by itself within a parted cell.
\nThe soul doth govern all, as doth their<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> king,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5
\nEmploys each thought<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> upon each several thing.
\nJust as the<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> bees swarm in the hottest weather,
\nIn great round heaps they do hang all together,<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAs if for counsel wise they all did meet,<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nFor when they fly away, new hives they seek.<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 10
\nSo Men, when they have any great design,
\nTheir thoughts do gather and<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> in heaps combine.<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nBut when they are resolved,<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> each one takes flight,
\nAnd strives<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span> which first shall on desire<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span> light.
\nThus<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> thoughts do meet<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and fly about, till they\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 15
\nFor their subsistence can find out a way.
\nBut doubting thoughts, like drones, live on the rest
\nOf hoping<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> thoughts, which honey bring to nest.
\nFor like as bees by their sting\u2019s industry<\/span>17<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nGet<\/span>18<\/sup><\/a><\/span> honey, which the stingless drones live by,<\/span>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 20
\nSo men without ambition\u2019s stings do live
\nUpon th\u2019industrious stock their fathers give.
\nOr like to such that steals a<\/span>20<\/sup><\/a><\/span> poet\u2019s wit,
\nAnd dress it up in their<\/span>21<\/sup><\/a><\/span> own language fit.
