Thoughts as a pen do write upon the brain.
\nThe letters which wise thoughts do write, are plain.
\nFools scribble, scrabble, and<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> make many a blot,
\nWhich makes them nonsense<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> speak\u2014they know not what.
\nSome<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> thoughts, like pencils, draw still to the life,<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 5
\nAnd fancies mixed, as colors, give delight.
\nThe sadder<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> thoughts are for the<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span> shadows placed,
\nBy which the lighter fancies are more graced.
\nLike as<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> through dark<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and wat\u2019ry clouds,<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> more bright
\nThe sun breaks forth with his resplendent light,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 10
\nOr like to<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> night\u2019s black mantle, where each star
\nDoth clearer seem, so lighter fancies are.
