Death is the cook of Nature, and we find
\nCreatures<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> dressed several ways to please her mind.
\nSome Death doth roast<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> with fevers burning hot,
\nAnd some he<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> boils with dropsies in a pot;
\nSome are consumed for jelly<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> by degrees,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 5
\nAnd some with ulcers, gravy out to squeeze;
\nSome, as with herbs, he<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> stuffs with gouts and pains;
\nOthers for tender meat he hangs<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> in chains;
\nSome in the sea he pickles up to keep;

\nSome flesh and bones he with the pox chops<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> small,
\nAnd doth a french fricassee make<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> withall;
\nSome on gridir\u2019ns of calentures are<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> broiled,
\nAnd some are<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span> trodden on,<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and so quite spoiled.
\nBut some<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> are baked, when smothered they do die;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 15
\nSome meat he doth by hectic fevers<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> fry;
\nIn sweat sometimes he<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> stews with savory smell:
\nA hodge-podge of diseases tasteth<\/span>17<\/sup><\/a><\/span> well.
\nBrains dressed with apoplexy to Nature\u2019s wish,<\/span>18<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nOr swim with sauce of megrims in a dish.<\/span>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 20
\nAnd tongues he<\/span>20<\/sup><\/a><\/span> dries with smoke from stomachs ill,
\nWhich as the second course he<\/span>21<\/sup><\/a><\/span> sends up still.
\nThroats he doth cut, blood puddings for<\/span>22<\/sup><\/a><\/span> to make,
\nAnd puts them in the guts, which colics rack.
