As birds to hatch their young ones sit i\u2019th\u2019spring,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nSo do some ages<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> broods of poets bring,
\nWhich to the world in verse do sweetly sing.<\/p>\n

And as their notes not art but Nature taught,<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nSo fancies in the brain that<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> Nature wrought,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 5
\nAre best; what imitation makes is<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> naught.<\/p>\n

For though these<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> sing as well as well may be,
\nAnd make their notes of what they learn agree,
\nYet he that teaches has the<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span> mastery,<\/p>\n

And ought to have the crown of praise and fame,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10
\nIn the long roll of time to write his name,
\nBut<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> those that steal from him are much to blame.<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s none should places have in Fame\u2019s high court,
\nBut those that first do win Invention\u2019s fort,
\nNot messengers, which<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> only make report.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 15<\/p>\n

To messengers rewards of thanks are due
\nFor their great pains, telling their message true\u2014
\nBut not the honor of<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> invention new.<\/p>\n

Many there are that suits will make to wear
\nOf several patches stol\u2019n,<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span> both here and there,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 20
\nThat to the world they gallants might<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span> appear.<\/p>\n

And the poor vulgar, which but little know,
\nDo reverence all that makes a glist\u2019ring show,

Then do they call their friends and all their kin;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 25
