\nThat can such arts and new inventions find?
\nOr has such fancies<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> as to similize,
\nOr can so rule and<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> govern as the wise?
\nOr that can by his wit<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> his mind indite, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5
\nCan<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> numbers set, and subtle letters write?<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nWhat creature else but man can speak true sense?<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAt distance give, and take intelligence?
\nWhat creature else, by reason can abate
\nAll passions, can raise<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> doubts, hopes, love, and hate?\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 10
\nAnd can so many countenances show,<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nWhich<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> are the ground by which affections grow?<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nThey\u2019re several dresses which the mind puts on;
\nSome serve as veils, which over it are<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span> thrown.
\nWhat creature is\u2019t, that has<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> such piercing eyes,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 15
\nThat mingles souls, and in fast friendship ties?<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nWhat creature else but man has<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> such delights,
\nSo various, and such strong, odd appetites?
\nMan can distill, and is a chymist rare,

\nWhat else but man can Nature imitate,
