Patience
\n<\/strong>Anger, why are you hot<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and fiery red?
\nOr else so pale, as if you were quite dead?
\nYour spirits are disturbed; you senses lack,<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nYour joints unset, flesh shakes; your nerves grow slack.<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nYour tongue doth move, but speaks no word that\u2019s plain,<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5
\nOr else they flow like torrents caused by rain.<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Anger
\n<\/strong>Lord,<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> what a bead-roll of dislike you tell!
\nIf you were stung with wrong, your mind would swell.
\nYour spirits would be set on flame with fire,
\nOr else grow chill with cold, and back retire.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 10<\/p>\n

Patience
\n<\/strong>Alas,<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span> it is for some supposed wrong;<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nSometimes you have no ground to build upon.
\nSuspicion is deceitful, runs about,
\nAnd often for a truth<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> takes wrong, no doubt.
\nIf you take falsehood up, ne\u2019er search things<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> through,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 15
\nYou do great<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> wrong to truth, and yourself too.
\nBesides, you\u2019re<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span> blind, and undiscerning fly
\nOn everything,<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span> though innocence is<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> by.<\/p>\n

Anger
\n<\/strong>O Patience!<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> You are strict and seem precise,
\nAnd counsels give as if you were so wise.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 20
\nBut you are cruel, and fit times will take
\nFor your revenge, though you<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> no show do make.
\nYour brows unknit, your heart seems not to burn,
\nYet on suspicion will do a shrewd turn.

\nYet in short time my fury all is past.
\nThough anger be not right, but sometimes wrong,
\nThe greatest mischief lies but in the tongue.

Patience
\n<\/strong>If I take time, I clearly then can see
\nTo view the cause, and seek for remedy.
\nIf I have wrong, myself I well may right,

\nThen falls<\/span>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span> that muffler from discretion\u2019s eyes.
\nMy thoughts run clear and smooth as crystal brooks,

\nThough I run low, yet wisely do I wind,

\nWhen you swell high, like to a flowing sea,

\nWhere you are rolled in waves, and tossed about,

\nAnd preach morality, but you act ill.
\nBesides, you seem a coward full of fear,
\nOr like an ass which doth great burdens bear,
\nLet every poltroon strike and give you<\/span>24<\/sup><\/a><\/span> blows,

\nWhich in weak<\/span>34<\/sup><\/a><\/span> women and small children dwell.
\nThat you more talk than fight, wisdom knows well.<\/span>35<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nBesides, great courage takes me by the hand,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 65
