Learning
\n<\/strong>Thou busy forester, that seek\u2019st about<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nThe world, to find the heart of Learning out,
\nOr, Perseus-like, foul monsters thou dost kill,
\nRude Ignorance, which nothing dost but<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> ill.<\/p>\n

Ignorance
\n<\/strong>O thou proud<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> Learning, that stand\u2019st<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> on tiptoes high,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5
\nYet canst not<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> reach to know the deity,
\nNor where the cause of any one thing lies,
\nBut fill\u2019st<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> man full of care and miseries.
\nLearning inflames the thoughts to take great pains,
\nDoth nought but make an alms tub of the brains.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10<\/p>\n

Learning
\n<\/strong>Learning doth seek about new things to find,
\nIn that pursuit, doth recreate the mind.
\nIt is a perspective, Nature to spy,<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nCan all her curiosities<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> descry.<\/p>\n

Ignorance
\n<\/strong>Learning\u2019s a<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> useless pain, unless it have\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 15
\nSome ways or means to keep us from the grave.
\nFor what is all the world, if understood,
\nIf we it do not use,<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span> nor taste its<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span> good?
\nLearning may come to know the use of things,
\nYet not receive the good which from them springs.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 20
\nFor life is short, and learning long; ere we<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nMay come to use what\u2019s learn\u00e8d, dead we be.<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Learning
\n<\/strong>O Ignorance, thou beast!<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> which dull and lazy<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> liest,
\nAnd only eat\u2019st, sleepest,<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> till thou diest.<\/p>\n

Ignorance
\n<\/strong>The lesson Nature taught is, most delight\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 25
\nTo please the senses and<\/span>17<\/sup><\/a><\/span> the appetite.<\/span>18<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nI, Ignorance, am still the Heav\u2019n<\/span>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span> of bliss,
\nFor in me lies the truest happiness.
\nGive me still<\/span>20<\/sup><\/a><\/span> Ignorance, that harmless \u2019state,<\/span>21<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nThat paradise, that\u2019s free from envious hate.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 30
\nLearning that<\/span>22<\/sup><\/a><\/span> tree was whereon knowledge grew;
\nTasting that fruit, man nought but mis\u2019ry<\/span>23<\/sup><\/a><\/span> knew.
\nHad man but knowledge Ignorance to<\/span>24<\/sup><\/a><\/span> love,
\nHe happy would have been as<\/span>25<\/sup><\/a><\/span> gods above.<\/p>\n

Learning
\n<\/strong>O Ignorance! How foolish thou dost talk!<\/span>26<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 35
\nIs\u2019t happiness in ignorance to walk?
\nCan there be joy in darkness more than light?
