\nMy thoughts brought<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> several things to<\/span>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span> work upon.
\nSome did large houses build, and stately towers,
\nAnd some made<\/span>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span> orchards, gardens, and fine bowers;
\nSome did<\/span>5<\/sup><\/a><\/span> in arts and sciences delight,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 5
\nAnd some<\/span>6<\/sup><\/a><\/span> in contradiction, reason\u2019s fight;
\nSome governed like as kings do<\/span>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span> rule a state,
\nAnd some<\/span>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span> as republics, which monarchs<\/span>9<\/sup><\/a><\/span> hate;
\nSome privy-counsellors and judges were,<\/span>10<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAnd some, as lawyers, pleaded at the bar;<\/span>11<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10
\nSome priests, which do preach peace and godly life;
\nOthers tumultuous were,<\/span>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and full of strife;
\nSome were<\/span>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span> debauched, did swagger, wench,<\/span>14<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and swear,
\nAnd some poor thoughts did<\/span>15<\/sup><\/a><\/span> tremble out of fear;
\nSome jealous were,<\/span>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and all things did<\/span>17<\/sup><\/a><\/span> suspect,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 15
\nOthers so<\/span>18<\/sup><\/a><\/span> careless, every thing neglect;
\nSome thoughts turned shepherds, nymphs,<\/span>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span> and shepherdesses,
\nSo kind, as they did give each other<\/span>20<\/sup><\/a><\/span> kisses;
\nTh\u2019expressed all<\/span>21<\/sup><\/a><\/span> sorts of lovers and their passions,
\nAnd several<\/span>22<\/sup><\/a><\/span> ways of courtship, and fine fashions;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 20
\nSome took<\/span>23<\/sup><\/a><\/span> strong towns, won battles in the field,<\/span>24<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAnd those that lost were forced to them to yield;<\/span>25<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nSome were<\/span>26<\/sup><\/a><\/span> heroic, generous, and free,
\nAnd some so base, to<\/span>27<\/sup><\/a><\/span> crouch with flattery;
\nSome dying were, half in the grave did<\/span>28<\/sup><\/a><\/span> lie,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 25
\nAnd some, repenting, did<\/span>29<\/sup><\/a><\/span> for sorrow cry;
\nThe mind oppressed with grief, thoughts mourners be,<\/span>30<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nAll clothed<\/span>31<\/sup><\/a><\/span> in black, no light of joy could see;<\/span>32<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nSome with despair did<\/span>33<\/sup><\/a><\/span> rage, were<\/span>34<\/sup><\/a><\/span> almost mad,
\nAnd some so merry nothing made<\/span>35<\/sup><\/a><\/span> them sad;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 30
\nAnd many more, which were too long to tell;
\nFor several thoughts<\/span>36<\/sup><\/a><\/span> in several places dwell.
\nAt last came two which were in various dress;<\/span>37<\/sup><\/a><\/span>
\nOne melancholy, th\u2019other did mirth express.<\/span>38<\/sup><\/a><\/span>

\nEmbraced and kissed me oft, and stroked my cheek,

\nShe loves to walk in the still moonshine night,
