We launched this site in January 2012, and began by entering materials related to the exhibition and reception of American film in South-Western Ontario during the second World War. This seemed an especially rich area at which to begin our investigation, allowing for a consideration of the functioning of American movie culture within a heavily populated region situated just north of the Canada-U.S. border, and during a time when Canada was embroiled in a major international conflict in which the United States both did and did not engage.
